Jimmy blaast hits als ‘Perhaps Love’, ‘Calypso’ en ‘Thank God I’m a Country Boy’ nieuw leven in, maar schenkt ook aandacht aan minder bekend werk. “De emotie van muziek overbrengen kun je niet imiteren, dat kan alleen uit jezelf komen.” Toch blijft hij trouw aan de handgeschreven partituren die hij van Denvers eigen arrangeur Lee Holdridge kreeg.  

Zelfs 25 jaar na zijn sterfdag leeft de muziek van John Denver nog steeds voort. Hoewel Jimmy geen generatiegenoot van Denver is, begrijpt hij zijn muziek als geen ander. Thank God I’m A Country Boy! is een grootse show met een intieme sfeer waarin de levenslessen in Denvers teksten nog meer betekenis krijgen en de legendarische muziek de aandacht krijgt die het verdient.

and cowboy hat, but a guitar and, well okay, a western shirt to stay in the mood. And the legendary music, of course, because that's what this show is all about. From small songs that evoke everyone's own memories, to exuberant numbers, during which Jimmy and his band go all out. 

Jimmy is reviving hits like 'Perhaps Love', 'Calypso' and 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy', but he will also play lesser-known songs. "You cannot imitate the emotion that is evoked by music, that emotion has to come from within yourself," he says. Yet Jimmy stays true to the handwritten scores he received from Denver's own arranger Lee Holdridge.

Even though it has been 25 years since John Denver died, his music still lives on. The young musician may not be one of Denver’s contemporaries, he does understand Denver’s music like no other. A great show with an intimate ambiance that adds even more meaning to the life lessons described in Denver's lyrics, giving the now legendary music the attention it deserves.
